Structural Characteristics and Application Analysis of Braided Fabric Hoses
Oct 29, 2025| Braided fabric hoses are flexible conduits widely used in industrial fields. Their core structure consists of an inner rubber layer, a reinforcing layer, and an outer rubber layer. The inner rubber layer, in direct contact with the conveyed medium, is typically made of natural rubber, nitrile rubber, or neoprene rubber, exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and airtightness, effectively resisting the erosion of acids, alkalis, oils, or high-temperature fluids. The reinforcing layer is the core load-bearing component of the hose, forming a mesh structure through the braiding process of high-strength fibers or steel wires, significantly improving the hose's compressive strength and tear resistance. Common reinforcing materials include polyester fibers, nylon fibers, and stainless steel wire; different material combinations can meet the needs of high-pressure, vacuum, or dynamic operating conditions. The outer rubber layer provides abrasion resistance, weather resistance, and UV protection, commonly using chlorosulfonated polyethylene or polyurethane, ensuring the hose maintains long-term stability in complex environments.
From a manufacturing process perspective, the production of braided fabric hoses requires multi-layer composite molding technology. The inner rubber layer is uniformly coated onto the mandrel using an extruder, then fed into a braiding machine for reinforcement layer braiding. Finally, the outer rubber layer is applied and vulcanized for shaping. The vulcanization process uses high temperature and pressure to cross-link the rubber molecules, giving the hose elasticity and durability. Depending on the application, the braiding density and number of layers can be flexibly adjusted. For example, high-pressure hoses often use multi-layer cross-braiding to distribute stress, while flexible hoses optimize the braiding angle to improve bending performance.
This type of product is irreplaceable in industrial fields. In hydraulic systems, braided fabric hoses handle high-pressure oil transmission, with pressure resistance reaching hundreds of bar. In the chemical industry, the corrosion-resistant inner rubber layer design makes it suitable for conveying corrosive fluids. In automotive manufacturing, fuel lines and coolant lines rely on their high-temperature resistance and flexibility. Furthermore, there is significant demand for them in agricultural irrigation, construction machinery, and aerospace. With advancements in materials science, the application of new composite material reinforcement layers and nano-coating technologies has further improved the lightweighting and service life of hoses.
In summary, braided fabric hoses, through their multi-layered composite structure and precision manufacturing process, achieve a balance between pressure resistance, flexibility, and environmental adaptability, making them a key component of modern industrial fluid transmission systems. Their technological iterations will continue to drive the efficient and safe development of related fields.
