Analysis of Steel Wire Spiral Hose Usage Techniques

Steel wire spiral hoses are widely used in hydraulic systems, pneumatic equipment, and chemical fluid transportation due to their excellent pressure resistance, flexibility, and wear resistance. However, improper use may lead to shortened hose life, leaks, or even bursting, causing safety problems. Mastering the correct usage techniques is crucial for ensuring equipment operating efficiency and operational safety.

 

Pre-installation Inspection and Preparation
Before use, carefully inspect the hose's appearance to ensure there are no bulges, cracks, or exposed steel wire layers. Also, verify that the hose specifications (such as inner diameter, working pressure, and temperature range) match the system requirements. Avoid sharp objects rubbing or squeezing the hose in the installation environment; install protective sleeves or guards if necessary. Furthermore, the hose bending radius should conform to the manufacturer's recommendations; excessive bending will reduce pressure resistance and accelerate fatigue of the internal steel wire layer.

 

Correct Installation Method
Avoid twisting the hose during installation, as this may cause internal steel wire breakage or loosening of joints. When connecting the hose, ensure a tight fit between the hose and the connector. It is recommended to use professional tools for crimping or flaring; do not forcibly hammer or heat to fix it. For high-pressure systems, a pressure test is required after installation. Gradually increase the pressure to the working pressure and observe for leaks or abnormal vibrations.

 

Precautions During Use

During operation, the hose should be kept away from high-temperature heat sources, corrosive chemicals, and strong electromagnetic fields. If exposed to harsh environments for extended periods, it is recommended to regularly apply protective grease or replace the hose with one that has stronger weather resistance. Under high-pressure pulse conditions, the hose is prone to wear due to frequent expansion and contraction; supports or clamps should be used to reduce friction during movement. Furthermore, avoid sudden pressure application or depressurization of the hose to prevent water hammer effects that could cause structural damage.

 

Maintenance and Replacement

Regularly inspect the hose surface for wear, aging, or oil buildup, paying particular attention to whether the connectors are loose. If the inner wall of the hose is found to be swollen, hardened, or its pressure-bearing capacity is reduced, it should be replaced immediately, even without obvious damage. When storing, the hose should be neatly coiled and kept in a cool, dry place, away from grease, acidic or alkaline substances, and direct ultraviolet light.

 

Proper use and maintenance of wire-wound hoses not only extends their service life but also effectively prevents safety accidents. Operators should strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions and optimize management measures based on actual working conditions to ensure stable and efficient system operation.
