Guidance On Interpreting Hydraulic Hose Model Numbers
Dec 23, 2025| Guidance on Interpreting Hydraulic Hose Model Numbers
The type of hydraulic oil hose is typically composed of key parameters such as standard designation, number of reinforcement layers, diameter, and pressure rating. Here are specific interpretation methods and example analyses:

I. Model Structure Analysis
1. Standard designation (e.g., EN, SAE, DIN)
Refers to the industry standardization system followed by YouTube, such as:
EN 853: European standard for four-layer steel wire-reinforced rubber hoses.
2. Enhanced Layer Count (Core Parameter)
1SN/2SN: Single/double layer steel wire braided structure, suitable for medium to low pressure (20.7-41.4 MPa). 4SP/4SH: Four-layer steel wire winding structure, suitable for high-pressure scenarios (explosive pressure up to 3-4 times the working pressure).
3. Diameter dimensions (DN or inches).
DN16: Nominal diameter of 16 mm (actual internal diameter of 16 mm). 5/8 inch: Imperial unit (≈DN16).
4. Pressure rating (WP or PSI).
36MPa: Common unit used in European standards (e.g., EN 856). 5220PSI: Common unit used in American standards (≈ 36MPa).
II. Model analysis provided by the user.
Example 1:1SN/ R1AT-1/2"-DN13-16MPa
1SN/R1AT: One-layer wire braided structure, capable of withstanding pressures of approximately 16MPa.
1/2"/DN13: Conversion between British and metric units, both inner diameters are 13mm.

Example 2: 4SH-1"-DN25-38MPa
4SH: Four-layer steel wire-wound high-pressure hose, capable of withstanding a pressure of 38MPa.
1"/DN25: British measurement system (≈ 25 mm) corresponds to metric units.

III. Techniques for Identifying Models
Check the tubing identification: The model number is usually printed on the surface of the oil tube. For example, "4SH32-SFS45" indicates a four-layer steel wire-wound tube with a flange joint.
Measurement of internal diameter verification: If the markings are unclear, use a caliper to measure the inner diameter of the cutout (e.g., DN16 actually measures 16 ± 0.3 mm).
Standard conversion chart: Care must be taken when converting pressures between different standards (e.g., SAE 5000PSI ≈ 34.5MPa).
