Installation And Maintenance Specifications For Brake Hoses – Extend Service Life & Stabilize Braking Performance

Jul 06, 2026|

Premium brake hoses can deliver full performance and maximize service life only when installed and maintained in compliance with standard procedures. Most premature hose failures and fluid leaks stem not from product defects, but from improper installation and inadequate routine maintenance.

Proper installation lays the critical foundation. Prior to fitting, verify the hose model and specifications match the vehicle, and inspect the hose body for cracks or damage. Thoroughly clean dirt and grease from pipe fittings to prevent foreign matter from entering the brake system.

  • During installation, never twist or overstretch the hose; keep it in a naturally slack state and secure retaining clips properly.
  • Maintain a safe clearance between the hose and sharp vehicle edges, rotating tires and suspension components to eliminate chronic abrasive wear.
  • Tighten connectors to specified torque values; avoid forced disassembly and assembly, which distorts threads and compromises sealing.

Upon installation completion, conduct a leak test. For hydraulic brake vehicles, bleed air from the pipeline to ensure responsive, trouble-free braking.

Routine maintenance must be performed on a regular basis. During every vehicle service, visually inspect the hose body for cracking, bulging, abrasion or fluid seepage, and check connectors for looseness and rust. With the vehicle lifted, turn the steering wheel and rock the wheels to check for hose interference and friction. Abandon the mindset of "replace only when broken". Rubber hoses undergo natural aging, so follow vehicle maintenance guidelines for scheduled replacement every 3–5 years or 60,000–100,000 kilometers.

Standardized installation, periodic inspections and timely replacement effectively prevent the vast majority of brake line faults, sustaining sensitive, stable and safe operation of the vehicle braking system.
